April 1984
We greet thee in the name of the master who we humbly serve. You have heard it said that straight is the way and narrow is the gate and few there be that find it.
Children of the light, we come this night with real and very good cheer. During our meetings in the past there have been times when we have been almost, to your mind, severe. There has been need so many times for straight talking, for giving you the truth as we see it has not always been easy, because we understand the trials and tribulations of your everyday life. Because we can see the adverse conditions that are around you at all times. And because we realise the impact of the psychic forces which are being created in your world through wrong thinking, through ignorance and fear. And we realise that you in the human body are in the midst of these grosses, lower, and slower vibrations. And that because you are in the flesh, because you are human, you must feel this impact. We do our best to protect you but we cannot wholly do this because you are on the Earth, as you know, for this very experience. You realise that you have to overcome, to accept and overcome, and it has been your work as seekers after truth, to come up against, as it were, these hard blank walls. And you have to turn round, and to look these facts, these experiences, these conditions, straight in the face, as it were. And then you have to retrace your steps into the very thick of the battle and overcome and fight. And it is this very experience which every true seeker must come up against, which has brought you eventually onto the straight path and through the narrow gate.
But we tell you that it is very true that few there be that find it. Because when most people find themselves going, as it were, towards the wall, they turn off and seek the easier path or a lesser light. There are very few, actually, who come face to face with this so-called wall, because they refuse, through their free will, they refuse to get, as it were, to this point.
And the so-called religious, very often do the same thing as the other folk, who never think about God or religion at all. But they feel that they are more, as it were, respectable and that they have, as it were, a ticket, so that they can go into these places, do these things, think these thoughts, and do these works, but they will be forgiven because Jesus died for them. Because they feel that they are washed in the blood of the Lamb. But in very truth, this is not so. And we have not beaten about the bush concerning these things.
But now we tell you, that though the way is narrow, though the way is straight and the gate is narrow, when one passes through the narrow gate, the scene changes, the scene changes, And again, this is a mental state. Now we feel, who are very, very close to you, that you are beginning to feel this greater freedom. Is this not so? And you do not feel so restricted. We feel that you have accepted the fact that you must not absorb. And things have happened recently, and you have proved this to yourselves. You have helped and done your best, during the past few weeks, without absorbing quite so much. And you are beginning to feel that you can endure and serve without carrying, for want of a better word, other people's millstones around your own neck.
During your search, during your long trek, you have had to carry your own millstones. You have carried your own burdens, and you have had to learn to leave them by the wayside. And this leaving them behind has been almost as difficult as carrying them. Because you have tortured yourselves, time and time again, by looking back and in your mind thinking about them and carrying them mentally again and again. You understand?
And you have also made the mistake of all seekers. The one thing that is inevitable, that one must do in this search, that you have deliberately looked for cages, and then you have placed yourselves in these cages and closed the door. Do you understand?
We will explain it further. You have been overcome with compassion for this person or that, and because you were developing this sensitivity which is essential, and because you have not learned at times to close the door, you have not only tried to help those in trouble, but you have gone right into their aura, right into their conditions. You have walked into their cage and closed the door. And you have found yourselves trapped in these conditions when quite honestly it was not your affair at all, after you had prayed and done all you could.
But now, we promised you words of comfort, and we say unto you stand awhile in the gateway that is narrow and know in your heart that you will step forth into the wide and beautiful expanse of Spiritual meadowland. A place of peace and quiet.
A truly happy, mental, state. And rest awhile in these conditions.
Think you not that all your troubles, so-called, are over because of this, because while you are upon the Earth plane you will have to leave these states again and again. But, nevertheless, you have made this way your own and you have arrived into this heaven on Earth. We would not lie. This is the state of your mind. You have passed through the state of the rose, very beautiful, very lovely, but so easy to hurt and crush. You have passed, as much as you can in the human form, to the state of the stone. And now we ask you to rest. When you lie down to sleep know that you are in this wide and lovely land, where there are no partitions, no barriers. Where you can go where you will, do what you will with absolute freedom. You will not make mistakes. There is no special path any more. Walk where you wish. Whichever way you go you will meet friends. You realise we are talking about the mental state, the Spiritual state, not the Earthly.
At this time you have been overjoyed because your country has taken unto itself because of its cream, because of its very best athletes who have trained and worked towards physical, human success, the honour….
This transcript is candid about its own earlier severity — acknowledging that past guidance has "not always been easy," straight talking given because the seeker's ongoing exposure to "ignorance and fear" required it, not because gentleness wasn't available. The narrow gate itself is described honestly as rarely reached, not because it's hidden, but because most people, sensing the "hard blank wall" ahead, simply turn aside toward an easier path — including the outwardly religious, who substitute a sense of being "washed in the blood of the Lamb" for actually coming face to face with the wall themselves.
Its sharpest new image is the self-made cage: compassion, developed as a necessary virtue, tipping into something harmful when the sensitive seeker doesn't merely help someone in trouble but walks fully "into their aura, into their conditions... into their cage and closed the door" — becoming trapped in someone else's difficulty that, after genuine prayer and effort, was never actually theirs to carry. This sharpens the boundary drawn in earlier transcripts like "Spiritual Dryness" and "Backs Against The Wall" into its most concrete form: not merely absorbing another's fear, but voluntarily locking oneself inside it.
Its central announcement is arrival rather than instruction: "you have passed through the state of the rose... and now, as much as you can in the human form, to the state of the stone" — a long-tracked progression through this collection, here declared largely accomplished. What's promised on the other side of the narrow gate isn't the end of all future difficulty — the transcript is honest that these states must still be "left again and again" while still embodied — but a genuine, repeatable homecoming: "wide and lovely land, where there are no partitions, no barriers... no special path any more. Walk where you wish."
