We greet thee in the name of the master whom we humbly serve.
We use the word “Light” so very often. All through the scriptures, all through the great teachings, this word 'light’ is so important and it means so much.
When we call you children of the light, it is almost a benediction, almost a blessing upon you. For to be in the light is a great and wonderful thing. Also, it is a very natural thing. For in Spirit there is nothing but light. There is no darkness. And all the little ones upon the Earth plane, have, before their physical birth, been in a sphere of light to a higher or lesser degree. And each one, before the incarnation into the Earth, promised themselves and those who are in charge concerning their spiritual progress, that they will leave the light and enter the darkness, and break through into the light again, whilst in the flesh.
But, as you know, this very rarely happens. And so, children, let us try to demonstrate unto you the meaning, the true meaning of breaking forth into the light, into the new day, into the knowledge of true, spiritual, light.
We want you to imagine a huge, dark, seemingly endless, tunnel. One must be in the light at the beginning before one enters the great darkness. At the commencement of physical life, one is at the very beginning of this dark tunnel. Now always, from the very beginning, one begins to search for the way out, for the light. And there are many and various forms of light in the dark tunnel of Earth existence.
There is the beautiful bright light, albeit, in a way artificial, of true human affection and physical love. This beckons and calls to nearly all children of Earth, at one time or another. And this is a beautiful rest for life. And it is good, in the early stages, to go unto this light and to benefit from its warmth. And here, under this light, the human being often finds the very beginning of his greater search. Here he shares the love he gives, here he takes. But, like all artificial light, this one can also flicker and fade, and go out, as it were, altogether, only to shine again further along the tunnel.
And then there are the wonderful lights of human relation-ships, motherhood, parenthood, the love of sincere friends and friends, the love that one extends to the animal kingdom. All these are, indeed, lights. Little beacons beckoning us here and there.
And then, in the deep recesses of this dark tunnel there are darker and uglier glowing embers. There are the dark fires of greed, the glittering lights of wealth and Earthly possessions. These lights draw unto themselves, even as the candle draws the moth, those that have forgotten the light that was before they entered the dark tunnel. And these little ones, like moths, gather around the various flames of self, lust, greed, hate, jealousy, all these things are there, and each and every one appears to be the goal. “This is the light for which we have been seeking," they say. But, there are they, who came even from the sphere of light, who cannot forget, who have travelled for long aeons of time, and who are beginning to see the end of their journey, their incarnations, and these are they who hold fast to the Spirit within. Who remember at all times, that there is a goal, there is a purpose, there is a power, there is something beyond and away which they must find. It is something they know they have never really lost and they will not rest until they have found it.
They too, walk and wander and meander, to stand for a time under the various lights in the dark tunnel. They love, they long, they desire, they feel, they take. But always, they realise in their hearts that this is not it. They are filled with a restlessness, with a longing, with an immortal longing, for that which they feel they have lost awhile. And then, usually in old age, those that have really made the search, see one day, when they are very tired, weary and worn, after they have suffered the pangs of deep compassion, remorse, regret, true love and bitter disappointment, when they have stood by and watched death and disease and change and decay. When they have watched these things at work and they still feel in spite of all the ugliness, all the chaos, all the vileness, that there is still something, that God stands for something, and that He cannot be mocked, these few eventually reach the exit or the outlet of the tunnel, while still confined in the flesh.
And stepping out, usually very worn and very tired, and very weary, into this immortal, splendid, eternal light, they breathe in for a while, all the peace, all the beauty, of immortality, their vision is open and they see, they lift up again their eyes unto the hills. And for a time there is utter and absolute relief. And a great cry goes from their very hearts,
"I knew, I knew, I know."
But then, unless the silver cord has been broken, they must go back. But they take with them a part of this great. light, and they are never the same again. There must be a pang, a pain, a longing to be free. But here and now, they are filled with a greater compassion, because they cannot come through, they cannot possibly reach the end of the tunnel, through any other means, but love.
No-one, not even God Himself, can push or pull or force a soul into this eternal light. This would bring about chaos, a breaking of His holy law. A going against of His own will.
And so, there are those that can push, encourage, entice, all children to the other lights, good, bad, and indifferent, but no-one can have anything to do with the bringing forth at the very end of the dark tunnel.
And so, beloved, you need not thank any other human being for this coming forth. But we say that so few, considering the millions, the teeming millions of souls who are making this journey, so few reach the outer edge whilst still in the flesh, that if, at the same time that you, yourself emerge, you meet another, then, you are blessed.
And if you are both in the flesh, hold hands, and let the Spirit unite. For you have heard it said that two heads in material matters are better than one, and two united souls in spiritual matters, are better than one. Age, position, rank, these things mean nothing to the people, the souls who met at the end of the dark tunnel. And so, when you sit for a while in the hut, or in a little place like this, you are experiencing one of those short periods out of the tunnel. And together, in love, remembering the light, remembering what you have been taught, you can go back as one. And you will endure, because nothing can take away the knowledge, the fact that you know.
And you must remember this, the outlet, the end of the tunnel, is a certainty, just as the entrance is, and the way for all is there. And the tunnel will remain for evermore, for as long as it is necessary for a soul, to walk through, to gain the experience, to learn the lessons between, the difference between the lesser lights, and the great, eternal dawn.
And so we repeat. Be still. Be still. And know that I am God.
This transcript is really about the different forms love takes, and which of them can actually lead somewhere. Romantic and physical love is named first — "beautiful," genuinely good in its season, but "artificial," flickering, fading, sometimes going out only to be relit further on. Above it sit the steadier lights of motherhood, parenthood, friendship, even love extended to animals — truer, but still, on their own, not sufficient. Deeper in the tunnel are the counterfeit lights that only resemble love — greed, lust, self, wealth — drawing people in like moths to a flame, each one claiming, falsely, to be the thing being searched for.
But to break into the light while in the flesh one needs to understand unconditional love – Divine love. Often in old age, through being weary of the collapse of the artificial light, the “pangs of deep compassion, remorse, regret, true love and bitter disappointment”, then an awareness awakens.
The transcript describes what sounds very like a near-death experience arrived at through spiritual exhaustion rather than physical crisis: a passage through darkness, a brief immersion in overwhelming light, the sensation of utter relief, and a return to the body that leaves the person permanently changed — carrying "a part of this great light" back with them. This same structure — darkness, light, reluctant return, lasting transformation — is the pattern later documented (nearly a decade later) in near-death experience research, most famously Raymond Moody's Life After Life.
