We would remind you of the many times in the scriptures, in the teachings of the great ones, and in the course of our conversations with you in this hut, the times that water has been mentioned, the living waters, the eternal fountain, the eternal springs, the waters of the spirit. What is this living water? the water that Christ talked about “Drink of my cup and thou shalt not thirst again."
You know there are times, because you are human beings, with one body, one pair of hands, and the various trials and tribulations of the flesh are made your own. And you look around and you see so many, one here and one there, who need so much help. and you feel that the compassion and the sympathy that wells up in your heart is so useless because the body cannot cope with the desires to help and to succour and to bring comfort.
And it is then that we would have you think as to the living waters. The great eternal fountain, welling up deep within yourselves, that can flow to all and sundry from this great ocean, from this great well, which, through the realisation of your link with God, with life, that you have brought into being. Realising one's own emptiness, one's own nothingness, but being at the same time aware, and conscious of, the power and life, the force emanating from the very centre of the universe, from the very centre from which all things flow and are created, realising this, and at the same time one's own absolute emptiness, this creates, within each human heart that is aware, the secret that will open forth the hard rock, as it were, of human material and physical existence. It will break this rock, and the living water from the very fountain of God will spring into being and will come forth.
And then the thoughts, the prayers, the compassion, the sincere, impartial, impersonal, sympathy, the impersonal love for all who need, who hunger, and who thirst. All these things will be brought together, and they will create, of themselves, rivulets and river beds, and the places where the living water may flow. The very essence. And the more sincere, and the deeper the knowledge of true reality, of true love, of selflessness, the deeper the river bed and the more room there will be in which, and through which, the living waters may flow.
And the water will indeed find its own level. And it will go forth and reach all those for whom you sincerely pray. Albeit there are times and different circumstances surrounding that one which will cause, as it were, a dam, and the water will have to flow elsewhere for a time. But because it was originally directed towards that one, eventually a way will be found. And this is why it has been said, "Be still, and know that I am God”. Not that you, or he, or she, is God, not that any human being, or even any angel, for that matter, can do God's work for Him. The more one realises his own emptiness, and at the same time the great power of love, the more quiet, the more still, that one will become. And the larger the fountain, the more powerful the powers that be will be able to turn forth the key through which the waters of life and love and healing will be able to flow.
But remember first of all, there must be stillness, the being quiet, and even when one sees the miraculous power that the living waters are bringing to those for whom one prays, then one must be even more and more still. Because if one tries to interfere, this will cause the waters to go either in the wrong direction or to become a little less.
And here great faith and great restraint is needed. But only by being quiet, and at the same time keeping the spiritual eyes open, can one see and hear what is really happening as the living waters make their way and do their work.
And we would like to ask you to use your imagination and to try to visualise a child, a new born babe that is born into the world, but who has, probably because of an unfortunate accident, or some other thing, deprived from its parents as soon as it is born, It is an orphan, it has no parent. And yet, it definitely has a link with its mother and father, although it cannot know them, it cannot see or speak unto them, and yet because it is in existence, it has a definite link with its mother and father. Without them it would not be. Can you imagine the life of such a one? And as it would grow older and older, even though there would be times when it would completely forget, there must be other times when the longing and the desire to know something about its parents would well up within it, and it would begin to seek and begin to search.
Children, on the spiritual level, all men, all children of Earth, are in this state. They are born almost as orphans, they know not their mother and father, God. They are tossed and turned upon the sea of human life, alone. Until the great longing overcomes them to search for their true Parent. And they are orphans spiritually until they start this great search. And they feel that they have no-one to whom they can turn. And although they admit this or not, in their hearts, in everyone's heart, there is a longing, a deep restlessness, a dying to know God and love. But it does not alter the fact, that the very fact that they are alive, that they are human, that they have life, the power of life, means that they are attached, they already have that link with God, even as that orphan child has that definite link with his human parents.
And happy is the man who is so filled with this hunger and thirst for his true Parent, that he begins, often through great unhappiness his great loneliness, this feeling of lost, this feeling of being lost and alone, turns him, tums his feet to the path which will lead him to search for his mother and father, God.
Children, all the unhappiness, all the poverty, all the wars, all the cruelty, all the avarice, all the fears, that exist in this your world, is caused through these millions of orphans who, in their great unhappiness are searching for the parent in the wrong direction. If they would place all their energies into the great search for the true Father, and Mother, their energies would be used to the very greatest advantage. And then, instead of bringing into being with their energies, their brains, and their foresight, the cruel weapons of war, they would instead create, an empty pipe through which the living waters could flow. And all would be healed, and the world, the Earth would indeed be the heaven that Jesus taught us to pray for, on Earth as it is in heaven. It is far off, this dream, but everyone who searches and finds is another step in the right direction. Another small part that will form the perfect whole.
This message pictures every human being as a kind of spiritual orphan — alive, but cut off from any conscious memory of God, and restlessly searching for a parent they don't remember. This hidden homesickness is the real root of most human suffering: war, greed, and cruelty are described not as separate problems, but as millions of people searching for connection in all the wrong directions. The good news offered is quiet and simple — the link to that "parent" was never actually broken. It just needs to be found, through stillness rather than striving, and the moment you stop trying to force the outcome is often when it starts to flow.
