Very soon the people of your world will gather in their divers churches and they will sing with a loud voice,
"There is a green hill far away,"
Far away, just a green hill, where the Lord was crucified, who died to save us all. They will be thinking in terms of ages past, of an incident that happened two thousand years ago.
But we, in our work, for mankind, we who love the souls of men. We who are prepared to work so that those, left upon the Earth plane, will come here with the knowledge of spirit, of immortality, and of everlasting life.
We repeat once again, that this knowledge is the only thing worth seeking for, while one has to walk the Earth plane and to take unto himself the Earth experience. And when the time comes when every man upon the Earth has this knowledge, then, in very truth, will the heaven upon Earth take its proper place.
And the kingdom of God shall come to all people, when life on the Earth and life in the Spirit world will be recognised as one. When there will be no barriers, just a stepping out of one garment into another, from one room into another. You have made this knowledge your own, and we say unto you that there are thousands and thousands of green hills in your world. Where one lonely figure stands here and there, suffering and being crucified for others. And Jesus, the beloved, the only one, the Master, is the first to acknowledge this fact, that he was an example to others, who would have to bear His cross and share a similar experience, according to their environment and to their circumstances.
And we cannot see in all your world a seeker who has sought with absolute humbleness of Spirit and deep sincerity of soul, who at one time or another, perhaps several times in a life-time, who has not, as it were, been placed upon the tree on a green hill of suffering for others. Every seeker must become sensitive, and the more sensitive a seeker becomes, because the Spirit seems to be growing out of the flesh, so that the flesh does not protect it quite so much. This one is laid open to all the psychic forces, all the alien forces, in the world: jealousy and greed, fear and ignorance.
And at different times the green hill is encountered, and it seems as if it's outstretched arms, and the heart itself, the bleeding heart itself, feels that it can stand no more. And this is inevitable. And the Master knew that although the world, the crowd, His disciples, his relatives, saw His personal, physical suffering, this was but a symbol to others who sought to find God through His teachings and through His life, of what would happen in their own lives in different and various ways.
But Christ gave up the ghost, as it were, and so many cannot do this. They suffer because of the wrong-doings and ignorance of others, without being able to lie down in the deep sleep of death. They must go through their crucifixion, through their suffering, and face the physical world again, without the support and the power of the Spirit world, inasmuch as they have not passed into it and discarded the garment of flesh. But nevertheless, every crucifixion, every suffering, every time one bears the cross for another, he is resurrected, he goes, as it were, one step higher, comes back to the world richer, more experienced, able to carry on and to overcome the alien forces with good.
And so in very truth we would have you rejoice. We would have you hand, as it were, a bill of your very own unto the Master himself. For you not only understand his sufferings, you not only appreciate the truth of His resurrection, but you, yourself, to a lesser degree, to a lesser degree, have felt the pangs of anguish and pain, have felt the arrows or the nails going through your own flash, because of the stupidity, selfishness, the foolishness, the wrong thinking of others.
But you have drawn unto yourselves the ministering angels who are specially trained to bring you back and to take care, so that you shall not, at any time, brush your foot against a stone. You walk, as it were, a rugged path, a difficult path, because this path is strewn with others, with the sleeping ones, of which we have talked before. You stumble across the so-called dead, you come into contact with people who, because they are walking in their sleep, you are continually having to help, guide, to put right, to see that they do not walk over the edge into the pit. This you do but you do it with knowledge and with a deep humility, and a gratefulness and thankfulness in your heart that you will not make the same mistake yourself. Therefore you have the power to guard and guide the sleeping one from the very edge. And woe would not have you grieve or fret concerning those things. Stretch out your hand when you have to, because your eyes are open and you are walking in reality and not in a deep sloop. You are not one of these who, in the midst of no-called life, are in death. But your path is difficult because of these, because of their sleep-walking, because of their laziness, because of their waywardness, and as Jesus said, because they have stiff necks and will not bend to truth and to love. And yet, they are all children of God, and one day, when you pass hence, these boulders, and the heavy bricks, and all those things which are strewn across your path at this present time, will be gone.
But, you will not be content even then to walk on the soft, green sward. You will turn so often because it is in your very soul, the knowledge that you cannot yourself be happy whilst there is one unhappy soul in any world. You cannot yourself feel truly rich whilst there is one in poverty. Never can you feel truly comforted, truly at peace, while there is one in torment. And because this, this desire to bring all to the footstool of God, is the very desire deep within you, you will turn again and again to look back through the mists and to see these still struggling.
But here and there, dear child, you will see, and you must believe us because it is true, along the dark path which you have travelled, you will see a light here and there, and you will see that a sleep-walker has walked into the light, through your being there, and that the light has awoken him, and there will be little havens where these can rest awhile, realise that they must awake to reality, and in their turn come forth from these little havens of peace and light, and help and guide others, as you have done. Every time you help one from falling over the edge, falling from the tightrope which you have mentioned, you leave a light, a heavenly light, a psychic light, which shines for ever more. Nothing is wasted, and although you feel that you have wasted your time, that it hasn't made any difference to this one or that, the efforts that you put in, you will find that you were mistaken. Somewhere, someone will see that light, will feel the warmth from it, will face reality, through your efforts.
So be not dismayed, but be of good cheer. Do not let the ceremonies and the rituals of Good Friday, disturb you. Think of it as a Friday truly good, truly good, because thousands of green hills, thousands of crucifixions are going on all the time with yourselves, with all people who are seeking and searching for truth, with deep sincerity. And know that you yourself have stood on these little green hills, time and time again.
So pray for these. Rejoice with Christ and know how he rose from the so-called dead. So will all these, including yourselves. Come forth into your own little resurrections, stronger, uplifted, more spiritually aware, and ready to face whatever the so-called future has to hold. Rejoice, rejoice, that the days are going by fast, and that there in your very own mansion, with your own friends, waiting just for you. And with your power and your love, you can come back and guide and bring into the peace these you have left behind, who you truly love.
Where the earlier Green Hill transcript described one recurring crucifixion, personally endured, this one widens the lens: "there are thousands and thousands of green hills in your world," each one a person suffering, in their own way, for others. Sensitivity itself is named as the cost — the more genuinely a seeker progresses, "the Spirit seems to be growing out of the flesh," leaving less protection against the very forces, jealousy, greed, ignorance, that cause the suffering in the first place. Unlike Christ, who could "give up the ghost," most who bear this cross must return to ordinary daily life afterward, without the release death would bring.
Its central image is walking a path strewn with "the sleeping ones" — people stumbled into like obstacles, wandering close to real danger without knowing it, needing to be caught, guided, kept from the edge, over and over. This work is neither romanticised nor resented: it's met with "deep humility, and gratefulness... that you will not make the same mistake yourself," and a plain refusal to imagine it as wasted, even when no visible difference seems to result — "somewhere, someone will see that light... through your efforts."
Its final reassurance answers directly to a shape of grief this transcript names precisely: someone who cannot be at rest while others still struggle — "you cannot yourself be happy whilst there is one unhappy soul." Rather than asking this restlessness to be set down, the transcript honours it as permanent and right, promising only that even after death, this same desire to help will continue, "come back and guide," rather than resolve into simple peace once the difficulty of Earth life is finally over.
