...to learn from those who come to teach you, who are still on Earth, and you may think it strange that we, your friends and relatives, who have gone before, cannot go and get this teaching here in our own sphere. And yet we come back to Earth, to this, your little meeting, to learn of these things. And you ask us why, why, and we answer because, even though we have passed hence, we are not on the wavelength, and the vibration, of your very own teachers. We did not seek this teaching whilst we were on the Earth, therefore we are bereft of this vibration, this wave length even now.
We can contact our own friends who are on a higher level than we are, through prayer, even as you do. But we cannot suddenly become enlightened, and receive teaching for which we were not prepared whilst upon the Earth. And our spirit teachers, who are on the same wavelength as we are, have brought us here to listen to the teaching and the help which you are about to receive.
And we are very grateful for this, because we can see the benefit which you spiritually revolve through your searching for truth although the body still holds.
This transcript makes a small, oddly touching admission: family and friends who have passed on, but who never sought spiritual truth while alive, cannot simply access advanced teaching once they arrive in spirit — they remain "bereft of this vibration," unprepared, regardless of how much time has passed. Readiness carries over, but it must be built somewhere; passing doesn't grant it automatically.
What's unexpected is where they come to find it: not to more advanced teachers in their own sphere, but back to Earth, to sit in on the same living circle their still-searching relative attends — grateful, genuinely, for teaching they couldn't get any other way. The learning, here, runs from the living outward to the dead, not only the reverse — proof, in miniature, of a point this collection makes often but rarely shows quite this plainly: what's built through real searching while still in the flesh has value that even death cannot simply confer.
