...and the ways that we have travelled have been varied and many. There have been times of wandering, as it were, over the arid desert, and through the dense jungles of materialism and doubt, and fear, and ignorance. And we have stood, as it were, high above the valley, on the side of the mountains, Looking down, and then we have been together again, down into the valley itself, feeling and experiencing the sensations, the feelings, and the emotions of those about us.
And many times we have been awearied because of the doings of the long day. But now it seems we sit, as it were, and sup together in the quiet evening, away from the noise and the glare of the world. And within our breasts everything is quiet and in it's proper place. And we are able through one mind to another, to talk and to influence each other through our thoughts. And you may not believe, or you may not be aware of my very nearness to during your waking hours. You know that we meet in the sleep state when your body is resting and your Spirit is free and can come into this place of peace.
But now I am with you during your waking hours, when your thoughts are more upon the work that we do, and you would be surprised to know how helpful your thoughts are when you are sitting in the quiet, thinking about the deeper truths of life, how your thoughts help those who have lived and walked upon the Earth plane, and who would know concerning this or that. And there are no teachers here that can help them in the same way, in the same way that you can help them with your thoughts. Because, being still upon the Earth plane, there is a density, a solidness, a substantial something, which they are very, very near to and can understand more through your mind than words which we can give. And the very fact that you are still upon the Earth plane, seems to bring and give comfort to some of these who are bewildered at the state in which they find themselves. These are more often than not very, very decent living folk. People who have lived the good life without particularly searching consciously. And were afraid that death, physical death, would be the end.
And yet, through a simple faith, and a strong sense of decency, and a sense of responsibility, lived the good life. And when they awake in this world they are naturally drawn to those on a higher level who would help them in any way possible. But it is very difficult to fill in the gap. This something which they did not know, the fact of the continuity of life. Although they faintly believed they did not really know, and this is a great lack.
You see, Mary, when you come hence and others like you who have searched and found and have become strong in faith, and who are prepared, who have prepared themselves, for work in the hereafter, these can go ahead, these are at home, the preparation has been put in, they have sent positive thoughts like letters to those who are waiting on this side, and all has been prepared in this mansion or that. And these others who have lived with a certain amount of fear, take so much longer to awaken to the true facts. But to be able to bring them back to someone who is still on the Earth with the right ideas and the right way of thinking, and you are making contact through your thoughts with many of these little ones who we bring to you. This seems to bring the truth home to them in a simpler way. The fact that you are still on Earth thinking as you do, and knowing as you do, is a great help. We cannot explain it any further than this, but we want you to know that it is so.
There are other types, who upon the Earth, sit specifically to rescue and to help those who find themselves in the hells. Now different Spirit people, different guides and controls, and different mediums are used for this work
But you, we guarantee this, that you are always in goodly company.

Its focus falls specifically on "very decent living folk" — people who lived well by simple faith and a strong sense of responsibility, without ever consciously searching or being certain what, if anything, came after death. Arriving in spirit, they are drawn naturally toward those who can help, but remain bewildered by "a great lack": belief without real knowledge, faint hope never firmed into certainty. What closes that particular gap, the transcript says, is contact with someone still living who does know — not more doctrine, but living proof.
